Inspira or Breathe in, Exhibition

2023

The exhibition Inspira presented new landscape paintings, portraits by Aga Jaworska and also photographs by Ewa Jermakowicz. Inspira means breath in Italian, but also inspiration. Both artists draw their inspiration from nature. In the space of the landscape, the light, the drama of the great massifs, the space to the horizon of lakes or seas.

Jaworska has inscribed the portraits in the series into the landscapes in a surreal way. We don’t know if this is an illusion or a dream. The unreal colours of the woman in the ribbon of Gaia’s painting return to the theme of pollution in Aga Jaworska’s work. Portrait of Longing to See is a mountain landscape and a portrait of a man with his eyes fixed on the viewer. Jaworska combines technique and emotion into one whole. The flow of watercolours and the softness of pastels, all with oil details. In Aga Jaworska you can see the space of feelings and the breath of mystical nature. Places you need to discover in yourself.

Goodies

Portraits form 2023-2024

This series of portraits celebrates the diverse facets of womanhood, portraying women as powerful, wise, and deeply connected to both their inner selves and the world around them. These are women who make things happen, women who simply exist with courage, and women who embody the qualities of ancient goddesses while thriving in the realities of the 21st century.

The portraits honor women as nurturers and healers—caring, wrapping others in their wisdom and strength. They also highlight the individuality of those who carve their own paths, living authentically and unapologetically. Within these depictions are symbolic characters: the inner child, full of hope and positivity; the queen, offering wisdom and solutions; and the Cinderella, struggling with self-doubt. Yet, the message is clear—these are not separate identities to choose from but interconnected aspects of every woman. Each has a voice, a purpose, and a power to shape her life and the world.

This series is a testament to the complexity, strength, and beauty of women in all their roles and forms, inviting viewers to embrace the multifaceted essence of womanhood. Each portrait reflects the resilience and spirit that define what it means to be a woman.

Emotional Landscapes and the Modern Plague

Pollution Series 2019-2022

In her abstract landscapes, Jaworska uses spheres to convey emotions of fear, anxiety, tension, and unease. These works reflect the impact of plastic, a defining pollutant and symbol of the environmental crisis. Garbage, especially plastic waste, has become a lasting mark of contemporary society, and her work strives to portray the unsettling reality of this presence in the natural world. The series began in 2019, inspired by the artist’s visit to Lake Garda in Italy. The paintings contrast beautiful sunsets with the presence of floating garbage, highlighting the clash between nature’s beauty and human destruction. There are no people in these paintings suggesting a world where people are hidden away, much like during the pandemic time.

These paintings reflect the artist’s deep concern about environmental issues, the growing piles of plastic waste or heavy clouds of smog. These are not decorative landscapes but emotional expressions of sadness and urgency. The series is a call for action and awareness, urging viewers to face the reality of environmental destruction and the need for change.

Empathie Serie

2022-2024

I painted this series for all children in the world. When I was teenage I had a flyer with a sign☮️ and the naked running child in Wietnam. In Gaza, children can’t run away.

People want to live in a safe place and wat to have a good future for their children. They need food, water, job, education, and off course home.

Wars was and are poison every time. Now and hundreds years ago.

In the picture is a child who I painted for Migration Serie, which I started in 2022. Today, I posted it to support everyone who is looking for a better time, a better place.
